FOUNDERS
Jodel and Sue are Denver residents and Haitian immigrants with family and friends still residing in Haiti. When the earthquake destroyed Hospital Camejo, Jodel and Sue organized a team to minister medical needs to the population of Leogane and surrounding areas. The experience led to the creation of Renewal 4 Haiti and ignited a new passion and purpose for the Charles family. This picture shows Jodel and Sue’s name tags amidst baggage tags for over 20,000 pounds of supplies, medication, and orthopedic equipment they brought to Haiti.
EXECUTIVE BOARD
Jodel has lived in Denver for many years but remains intimately tied to his Haitian roots. Having witnessed first-hand the physical and emotional injuries of his homeland after the January 12th seism, Jodel is humbled by the outreach and support of friends and strangers in helping to rebuild Hospital Camejo. He looks forward to its completion as a critical first step in making a difference in the lives of people from Léogâne.
Mark is one of the orthopaedic surgeons who went to Haiti in January 2010, which was a life-changing experience. One night while watching the news, Mark caught himself hoping that "some qualified people" would be able to make it to Haiti. Then it occured to him that he is one of those people. Fellowship-trained in orthopaedic traumatology, Mark is currently an attending surgeon at Denver General Hospital, but nothing could have prepared him for what he saw in Haiti. He remains humbled by his opportunity to serve side-by-side with Haitian doctors and nurses and remains committed to the cause.
